Projecto Summary

The Lapse is a third-person psychological horror video game, developed in Unreal Engine 5, That serves as my personal thesis. The game narratively explores the mental breakdown of an individual, representing their journey through three distinct leves: a semi-open world, a castle symbolizing the past, and a final third level. It is an interactive manifestation of the struggle against burnout and paranoia.

DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGY & DEMONSTRATED SKILLS.

This project began with ZERO PRIOR EXPERIENCE in video game development, but with a strong foundation in critical thinhing, project management, and problem-solving. My approach has been a ¨Learn-by-doing¨methodology, where the game's development and my mastery of the engine have been simultaneous processes.

- STRACTEGIC MANAGEMENT & LOW-CODE: I chose Unreal Engine 5 for it powerful LOW-CODE ENVIRONMENT, which allowed me to quickly implement core mechanics without a deep knowledge of C++. This strategic decision enabled me to build a solid foundation for the project, with a future pan to integrate advance C++ programing.

- LEARNING & OPTIMIZATION: The second level, ''the castle'', functions as a test-and-error environment, where I have applied and mastered engine mechanics. I have solved real - world challenges, such as optimizing errors, integrating theses lessons directly into the final product.

AMBITION & OVERCOMING CHALLENGES: While many solo developers start with 2D projects, my goal with THE LAPSE is to create an inmersive, high-fidelity experience. The combination of a complex narrative with hyperrrealistic graphics and a semi-open world demonstrates my desire to tackle significant challenges and my ability to manage them effectively.

This project is a testament to my capacity for self-management, my ability to learn quickly from adversity, and my application of multidisciplinary skills to bring a complex vision into tangibe reality.
