Project Plan: Breaking Barriers in Latinx Mental Health

My first presentation, "Project Plan," was born from a deeply personal experience as a volunteer searching for an organization focused on Latinx mental health. During my time analyzing the project, I closely observed and analyzed the critical mental health issues facing the Latinx population in the state of Oregon.

Despite the Latinx community representing 13.8% of Oregon's total population, there is a severe shortage of competent professionals. This, coupled with the language barrier, makes it extremely difficult for our community to access adequate help and services from existing mental health organizations.

It was this reality that prompted me to create this presentation. In it, I focused on the decline and deficiencies we face as Latinx people in accessing mental health services. This presentation not only exposed a critical problem, but was also my first step on the path to effective community and advocacy, marking the "before" of my development as a presenter, where my passion for service found its voice through design and strategy.
