The Journal: An Essential Tool for Mental Health and Burnout Prevention.
Project type
The Diary
Date
April 2025
Location
Portland, Oregon
This presentation stems directly from my Peer Wellness Specialist training in Mental Health and Addictions. It was a period of deep introspection and learning, where my personal experience combined with extensive research.
I discovered the fundamental importance of validating our emotions and developing effective strategies to avoid burnout. Mental health, as you'll see, distinguishes between social classes and religions. Even the brightest college students can face bouts of depression during exam periods, and high-achieving professionals like psychologists, doctors, or engineers are not exempt from the risk of mental overwhelm.
In this presentation, I share how journaling becomes a vital self-care practice. We explore different types of mental "breaks" that are crucial for avoiding brain overload and maintaining lasting emotional balance. This is a simple yet powerful tool for anyone looking to nurture their mental well-being in a demanding world.
