From Vision to Innovation

Project type

The Leap to Mobile Apps and Voice Assistants (Phase 5 and 6)

Date

July 2025

Location

Portland, Oregon

This phase of my career marked my bold leap into mobile app and voice assistant development, a significant milestone in my professional evolution. In my solo journey, each phase progresses at its own pace: mobile app development represented Phase 5, while Lumin, my voice assistant, became Phase 6.

About Startups and Entrepreneurship:
The startup world is a dynamic ecosystem driven by innovation and disruption. It is born from an idea with the potential to solve a problem in a novel and scalable way, often with limited resources at first. Startup founders, like inventors, travel a path that requires exhaustive hours of dedication, perfecting and polishing every detail to transform a vision into reality. It is a high-risk, high-reward journey, where resilience and the ability to adapt are key to success.

My foray into this field was no different. I dedicated exhaustive hours of development, and I'm incredibly happy that my startup was a success. Thanks to this, I was motivated to embark on the development of my greatest achievement to date: Legion Networking. This is my mobile app for my website and the backbone of my nonprofit, focused on personal and professional growth and development.

In my extensive market research, I discovered that only four organizations in my niche have a mobile app. This uniquely positions me as the first and future Latinx organization to have two mobile apps and a voice assistant.

I am fully aware that maintaining Lumin, the voice assistant, is a considerable investment. However, if it can significantly facilitate the progress of our volunteers and employees, it is a risk I am willing to take during the first year. Long-term viability will be evaluated based on its impact and sustainability.

Lumin goes far beyond mere work facilitation. My organization is not only focused on the Latinx community; my vision is to serve all communities, including people who are deaf or blind. Therefore, I am beginning to implement inclusive methods to ensure everyone can access our support.

Being an inventor and pioneer is never easy; it is a path often taken alone, but the rewards of impacting lives make it intensely rewarding.
